  Finding a mate

  so here i am 44 yr old divorced and free to remarry jw sister....first time single since i was 19. but guess what no single brothers in my area.

  i’ve tried those stupid jw dating sites and still no luck.

  oh yes there are tons of single brothers, but guess what...they all expect a hot barbie to come running into their life.

  How do you personally deal with your still in family JWS ?

  for myself i just try to avoid them intentionally maybe see them once every couple of years on average.

  they used to be easy going but over the last 10 years or so they got more cult like and distant and i'm really not bothered by that, maybe a bit.

  they stick to their own or other members like they are their family so, its makes it unattractive for myself to connect and reach out to them anymore.

  i left of my own free will in the 70's. i was never d/f. most jw friends stayed friends. my JW parents accepted my decision. 1981 it was announced i was now apostate..because i was having an affair with a married sister . ive heard it called most things--but not apostate. friends vanished--never spoken since. parents stayed close.

  my dad said to me he couldnt find it anywhere in the bible that he couldnt see his own son. i hadnt been a jw for years by then. we stayed close. Mum died in 1998. Dad had some kind of falling out with his grand-daughter--my daughter--and she never spoke to him or visited him after that...even though for his last 4 years he lived in a care home less than a mile from her. i was still very close to him--visiting several days a week. visits from elders dwindled and stopped. i think he was a marked man because of our close relationship. he died in 2016---ending the only very loose connection between me and that crazy cult.

  for years i lived in hope of some contact with my daughter..and youngest son..both still jw. but in the last few years ive realised thats never going to happen.

  today i was in watsapp chat with my older son--he was d/f about 10 years back and has a great life and family. i will have a new grandchild next month!

  life goes on --despite the best efforts of the watchtower.

  prince harry and meghan markle, the duke and duchess of sussex, have stepped back from royal duties and moved to an exclusive enclave of california and into a £11 million mansion (i guess they're slumming it, lol).

  they have recently made several pod casts, featuring themselves pontificating on a range of subjects - blm, 'structural racism', the environment, etc.. while they're free to make whatever content they wish, it does seem ridiculous.. why should i treat harry or meghan seriously?.

  i belong to a group (best description that i can think of) that specialises in sharing academic papers.

  ok, sometimes that provides me with all kinds of interesting material pertinent to my research interests.

  but, sometimes, (and since i have not read all of it, i'm assuming its fair dinkum, genuine research) something turns up (not among my usual research interests) that blows my simple brain.. anyway, after a brief examination, my conclusion is this: i think charlie russell would have gone gaga over this research.. the author has named his paper, .

  I think everyone will get infected sooner or later. This will be around for ever. Most wont even know they have it. Some will get sick. A few--mostly the elderly: especially with other serious life limiting conditions, will die. Thats life.

  my younger son--and daughter--both in their 40's now--with kids of their own ( ive never met ). not had any proper contact since they were kids. Never likely to.

  set in britain, the story is about a family, a single mom and her two daughters, who are jehovah's witnesses.

  i'm not going to give away too much of the plot, but holy moly!

  i confess --i did watch it--this evening. it is a very accurate insight into the strange world of the watchtower cult....complete with a couple of cart witnessing clips.. Only problem--it ended just as it was beginning to turn a corner.

  nice to watch an English film for a change. ( and a bit of Urdu--for a laugh )...but more suited to a TV drama i would think. Now that would be an idea.

  thinking back--i have to laugh about all the 1975 hype.

  i had quit 3 years before..but the elders had assigned one of them to try to get me interested again. He was totally sold on it. Then he mentioned he was buying a car on credit--because he would never have to pay for it. That killed it stone dead for me. That idiot went on to be a circuit servant !

  what i did do in the summer of 75--was to get my wife pregnant. We had our first son in april 76. She totally shuns him now--as he was d/f 10 years ago.

  "Stay alive till '75" was a popular jw slogan in the years leading up to 1975! We were sure that Armageddon would start in 1975.

  Now that I'm 73 years old, I'm personally trying to "Stay alive till (I'm) 75!"
